The $25 Beer Class: England vs. Scotland Showdown

It’s the battle of UK beers! On tap for the evening: two English beers (St. Peter’s and Hobgoblin) vs. two Scottish beers (Fraoch and SkullSplitter). Instructor Greg Babel will go over the history of beer in both countries, and he’ll review a basic lesson of the history of England and Scotland's love/hate relationship politically. After you’ve tasted these four beers you’ll get to vote on which country you think does beer better! If Scotland wins, they gain their independence, and we watch a movie celebrating Scottish culture. If England wins, English culture wins, and we watch a British movie. While drinking more beer, of course.

Instructor Bio: Greg Babel is a Libra. Wait, wrong profile, sorry. Ahem. Greg started working at Brooklyn Winery last September during the first harvest. Not knowing much about winemaking at the time, he basically helped Conor the Winemaker (that's his superhero name) by keeping stuff obscenely clean, pitchforking grapes into containers, and performing super secret tests on the fermenting liquid. Since then, having proven his ability to perform manual labor to a satisfactory degree, he was promoted to barback (more cleaning!), then to server, and finally to bartender. He is still involved in all of his previous roles at the winery to some degree—some call him a renaissance man. Greg says, "Over the past year I have learned immense amounts about wine and winemaking from very intelligent individuals who know much more than I do. Ask me a question and see how well I can blag an answer."
