Frequently Asked Questions

We are located at 213 North 8th Street in Williamsburg, just off of the Bedford L stop. Click here for a map and directions.

We’ll open our doors for wine production in the fall of 2010, so place your orders now to secure your spot. Our wine bar and event space will be open towards the end of 2010.

We’ll have three main offerings:

1. Make your own wine -- either a Custom Barrel with your own private group, or a Community Barrel with other wine enthusiasts from the Brooklyn Winery community. Our seasoned staff will help you out with every step of the process.

2. Visit our tasting room/wine bar to sample a myriad of wines produced throughout the year by our in-house winemaker.

3. Rent our space for events such as birthday parties, corporate events, and even weddings. We’ll have everything you need to make your event a memorable one.

For the fall 2010 winemaking season we will offer several varietals of red and white wines listed here. We’ll be expanding our selection come spring 2011 and beyond.

The winemaking season will begin in fall 2010 with wines from the northern hemisphere (New York, California to start). We are taking orders now. We’ll also offer winemaking packages during the spring harvest season, using grapes from the southern hemisphere (Chile, Argentina, etc.)

Please visit our winemaking page for detailed information about the process, and our Custom Barrel and Community Barrel pages for detailed information about the packages.

From start to finish, the winemaking process takes at least 8 to 10 months, but can be up to 2 years. Fall 2010 winemakers will bottle their wine starting summer 2011.

You can participate in as much or as little of the process as you’d like. Winemaking is a fun and educational activity; this is a great opportunity to dive right in and learn how it’s done. If you’re more of a hands-off type of person, that’s ok too – our staff is here to ensure that your wine is the best it can be.

Our winemaker and staff are here to oversee the quality of every barrel of wine produced in our facility. So not to worry if you have no winemaking experience — that’s what we’re here for.  We will work to make your wine the best that it can be.

We will be sourcing grapes from our partner vineyards in New York and California this fall.  We have established partners who know the care required to get your grapes from vine to our winery without sacrificing quality. See more information about our varietals here.

Absolutely! Winemaking is most fun as a group activity, so we encourage you to gather a group of wine enthusiasts and make a barrel together. Groups generally range from 5 to 10 people. Each group will designate a barrel leader, who we will contact to schedule times for the group to participate in winemaking activities. The leader will then coordinate with the others in his or her group.

One barrel is equivalent to approximately 300 bottles of wine.

Purchasing an entire barrel, through our Custom Barrel package, allows for greater customization and keeps the price per bottle to $19, so this is the option we recommend. We do offer the Community Barrel package if you prefer not to purchase an entire barrel. But please note, the Community Barrel package is necessarily less customizable and carries a higher per bottle price.

Winemaking is a perfect gift for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and even expecting parents. It’s a wonderfully unique gift for the person who has everything, and best of all it lasts throughout the year!

Of course! Winemaking can be a great team-building exercise in an educational and relaxed environment. We can accommodate multiple barrels for any size business.
